How Coffee Gets from Seed to Cup?

Updated: Nov 25, 2017

Have you ever asked, “how is coffee made?” There are a lot of processes to transform it into a beverage and each one will have an impact on the flavour and quality of the finished cup.

How many people think coffee beans come from a can or plastic packaging in the store, or think they are just picked off the coffee tree as-is?

Coffee starts out as coffee cherries, the bean is the seed of this fruit that grows on coffee trees. To get it into bean form, coffee cherries are picked, processed (which can happen in a variety of ways), dried, graded and then sorted. At this point it's called "green coffee", and it'll be shipped from origin countries to the places where it will eventually be roasted.

Roasting is what transforms that green coffee into the aromatic brown beans that we are used to. Of course, the roasting is a complex process, coffee roasting involves a whole lot of science, is both technical and an art. Anyone can do it badly but very few people have the experience and skill to turn green beans into a consistent and fantastic cup of coffee.

Once the green coffee beans are selected and magically turned into freshly roasted Dairy Beanz, it's ready to be shipped to your favorite Cafes, Restaurants, your home or the office to brew a perfect cup of coffee.
